Velia R. Chavez, age 54, of The Colony, Texas passed away on September 14, 2016 in Plano, Texas. She was born on February 6, 1962 in Chihuahua, Mexico to Cruz Ester (Medina) and Adolfo Rodriguez. On June 21, 1980, Velia married Martin Chavez in Chihuahua, Mexico. Velia was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in The Colony, Texas. She lived her life devoted to her husband, daughters, and grandsons. Her spirit will continue to bring joy to all those who knew her.  

Velia is survived by her husband, Martin Chavez of The Colony; four children, Lisette Meza and her husband, Antonio of The Colony, Melissa Chavez of The Colony, Ivonne Huynh and her husband, Steve of Little Elm and Erika Chavez of The Colony; three grandchildren, Gabriel Meza, Mateo Meza and Jacob Huynh; three sisters, Maria Rodriguez of Arlington, Blanca Rodriguez of Frisco and Norma Castillo of Garland; five brothers, Horacio  of Hackberry, Adolfo of Little Elm, Mario of Arlington, Ramon of Little Elm and Lorenzo of Prosper; father, Adolfo Rodriguez of The Colony; many other loving family members and a host of friends. 

Velia is preceded in death by her mother, Cruz Ester Rodriguez. 

Family and friends are invited to a Visitation at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 8520 Main Street, Frisco, Texas 75033, on Saturday, September 17th and Sunday, September 18th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with the Rosary to begin at 6:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 7000 Morning Star, The Colony, Texas 75056, at 11:00 AM with Rev. Joy Joseph presiding. Interment will follow at Ridgeview West Memorial Park, 12130 Peaceful Lane, Frisco, Texas 75033.
