Vaudene McCarty Shatley of McKinney, Texas passed away on July 21, 2017 at the age of 79. She was born on October 14, 1937 to Clarence and Bernice McCarty in New Castle, Texas. Vaudene married Clifford Shatley on June 20, 1963. She graduated from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas with an RN Diploma in Nursing. Vaudene was a dedicated registered nurse in McKinney for many years. She came to McKinney to work at the VA Hospital where she met the love of her life. After her husband's passing, she gave herself to raising her son Kevin. Later, Vaudene was charge nurse in the ICU at Wysong Hospital where she touched the lives of many people in McKinney. When presented an opportunity to return to the VA, she served at the hospital in Bonham for over 20 years. Her other lifelong passion was painting china porcelain. She was an active member and the recording secretary for the China Painters Club of McKinney.
Vaudene is survived by her son, Kevin Shatley and his wife, Julianna of McKinney; grandson, Jordan Shatley of Austin; brother, Troy McCarty and his wife, Arcelia of Arlington; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives including the Shatley and McCarty families.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and numerous aunts and uncles.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013 with Rev. Randy Morlan officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Monday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
