Turin Mackenzie Hansen O’Brien, age 31, of Sherman, Texas, passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021. She was born on September 25, 1990, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Sharon M. (McCarthy) and Ross J. Hansen. She grew up on the family farm in Genoa, Colorado. Turin attended Limon Public Schools, graduating Salutatorian in May 2009. She attended the University of Dallas at Irving, Texas, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. From UD, she attended Saint Louis University School of Nursing graduating Suma Cum Laude earning a BSN in nursing. She married Peter O’Brien of St. Louis in June 2014. Turin and Peter made their home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Turin worked at Our Lady of the Lake as a charge nurse and was instrumental in setting up the COVID ER in the spring of 2020. Turin was also a flight nurse for Acadian Air Med. Turin was enrolled in LSU Loyola School of Medicine at the time of her death.
She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.
Turin is survived by her parents, Sharon and Ross Hansen of Sherman, Texas; her brother, Reid Hansen and his wife, Kaitlyn, of Frisco, Texas; her nieces, Elowyn and Teaghan Hansen; as well as her “people”: Missi Carpenter, Kelley Grant, Katherine Yarbrough, Rachel Haines and Laura Owens.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 20, 2021, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 8000 Eldorado Parkway, Frisco, Texas. There will be a rosary prior to the service beginning at 1:30 p.m.
After the funeral service, donated flower arrangements will be given in Turin's name to a local Women's Shelter. In this way, we can celebrate Turin's love of flowers as well as her love of bringing joy and light to the lives of others. Thank you for your love and support.
