Troy Owens of Garland, Texas peacefully went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 12 at the age of 88. He and his twin brother, Coy, were born on March 17, 1936 in Bailey, Texas to Hoyt and Nellie Owens.
He went to a country Baptist church in Savage, Texas where he was saved when he was 12 or 13. At a young age, he led music for a while. He graduated from Bailey High School in 1955. He worked on a farm for a little while. While he was studying to become a Mason, he went to Midland, Texas to work. Then he worked in Garland, Texas for Garland Heating and Air and became a really good air condition man. He loved reading the Bible and had a love for history and geography.
He married Wanda Young on June 4, 1965. They had one son, Ronald Quinn Owens, on January 31, 1968. He was the light of Troy’s life. Ron married Stephanie on October 14, 2000 and gave him a wonderful grandson, Ryan Reynolds, who was three years old. On April 11, 2002, they gave him a precious granddaughter, Macy Owens.
Troy is survived by Wanda, his beautiful wife of 59 years; son, Ron and wife Stephanie; grandson, Ryan and wife Kristin; granddaughter, Macy; sister, Sue Savage; and lots of nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother and daddy, Hoyt and Nellie Owens; brothers Coy, Robert, and Tom Owens; and sisters Mozelle Woodall, Bernice Treadway, and Ann Milsap.
A visitation will be held at Hurst's Fielder-Baker Funeral Home in Farmersville, Texas on Saturday, July 20, at 9:00AM. A graveside service will follow visitation at Blue Ridge Cemetery at 10:00AM.
