Troy Lee Newman, of McKinney, Texas, beloved Dad and PawPaw, transitioned peacefully from his home to the Heavenly Realm on June 27, 2026, at the age of 80, after a long battle with lung disease.
Troy was born on April 11, 1946, in Commerce, Texas, to Elmer Roy Newman and Cuba Jean (Yates) Newman. He grew up in Texas and graduated from Mesquite High School in 1965. On January 14, 1970, Troy married the love of his life, Marlys Ann (Vier) Newman, in Bonham, Texas, and together they built a life centered on family, hard work, and devotion.
Troy dedicated 36 years of service working for the United States Postal Service and was a proud member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. He was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to serving his community.
Outside of work, Troy found great joy in fishing, camping, and spending time outdoors. He was especially proud of his role as a softball coach to his daughters, cherishing the time spent supporting and encouraging his family. He was handy with tools, could build and repair things, showed great ingenuity, and taught his daughters these things as well. He will be remembered for his steady presence, his dependability, his love for his family, and the many memories created through simple, meaningful moments and gestures. He was a man of few words and showed his love through his actions.
Troy is survived by his daughters, Liesa Lieanne Newman and wife Dana Goodenow, Felicia Annette Jennings, and Jillian Ann Newman. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Michael Goodenow; Shae (Goodenow) Guzman and husband Marlo Guzman; Jarad Newman; Andrew Jennings and wife KenZ (Kerr) Jennings; Colby Jennings and partner Rebecka Chase; Jonathan Jennings and partner Benjamin Montgomery; and Nicholas Jennings and wife Emily (Tillett) Jennings.
He was blessed with great-grandchildren Kaylee Peltier, Kinzie Peltier, McKenna Goodenow, Mason Goodenow, Emalyn Jennings, William Jennings, and Kelcey Jennings, who brought him immense joy. He is also survived by numerous cousins, extended family, and friends.
Troy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marlys Ann (Vier) Newman; his parents, Elmer Roy and Cuba Jean (Yates) Newman; and his brothers, William Loyd Newman and John Wesley Newman.
