Retired Frisco Fire Captain, Tony Raymond Woods, 57, passed away on July 1, 2018. He was born on October 13, 1960, to Carroll Van Woods and Frances Head Jones. He was united in marriage to Mamie Rutherford on April 3, 1982, and in 1983, they were blessed with a son, Travis Braden Woods.
On Saturday, July 14, 2018, a Frisco Fire Department processional will lead to the 11:00 AM Celebration of Captain Woods’ Life, officiated by Pastor Rick Ballard, at First Baptist Church, Frisco. A lunch reception will follow to further honor his life and service. Pallbearers are Bryan Warrick, Shain Hunn, Jon Rutherford, Rob Wilson, Todd Wilson, Allen Braddock; with Honorary Pallbearers Donnie Ward and Smith White. Also serving will be the Frisco Fire Department Honor Guard.
Captain Woods proudly served as a Firefighter/Paramedic of the Frisco Fire Department for 23 years until his retirement in October 2015. He was an active member of the Frisco Fire Fighters Association #3732. Tony was honored to serve alongside his brothers in the Frisco community. He loved each and every one of his fellow firefighters and their families. Tony was also a homebuilder and the owner of a local window business.
Tony was a member of First Baptist Church in Gunter, Texas. He loved the Lord and felt blessed to be a part of such a loving church family. He also enjoyed attending the men's Bible study at Grace Bible Fellowship and the Prosper AA Country Group and felt blessed by his friendships there.
Tony had a great love for the outdoors and nature. He always said that's where he felt closest to God. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and master carpenter. He was a huge fan and loved the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys. Some of his favorite times in life were hosting family gatherings and spending time with his friends.
Tony is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Mamie Woods, of Gunter, Texas, his beloved son, Travis Woods of Flower Mound, Texas, beloved daughter, Shannon Bogan and granddaughter, Kaleigh Bogan of Lake Dallas, Texas. He is also survived by his father, Carroll Van Woods of Flower Mound, his mother Frances Jones and her husband Don of Little Elm, Texas, sisters Connie Sheedy and Debbie Ellis, brother Curtis Woods, mother-in-law, Dee White, brother-in-law, Jon Rutherford, sisters-in-law, Gretchen Minchew, Debbie Nelson, and Vikki White, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Tony was preceded in death by a dear nephew, David Ellis, his paternal grandparents, Ripley Baxter and Flonnie Mae Woods and his maternal grandparents, Raymond Head and Mildred Hall.
