“Papa” Tommy Lee Rogers of Plano, Texas made his last and final ride and went to be with Jesus on November 5, 2017 at the age of 86. He was born on September 29, 1931 to Thomas “Tom” Hugh and Flora Ethel (Wolfe) Rogers in McKinney, Texas. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After returning home from the war, he married Mildred Dean on May 20, 1955. Tommy worked as the service manager for Ford until he went on to open and own Action Porcelain Company in Plano, Texas for over 25 years. He married Fredna Ruth Brigham June of 1995 in Murphy, Texas.
Tommy loved his family and loved being a Papa more than anything. The good ‘ole days were filled up with his love for horses, tinkering around in the barn from dusk til dawn, making memories with his grandbabies, John Wayne movies, AM talk radio, going to the rodeo, mowing the grass, and growing his garden. He was everyone’s favorite Cowboy.
He is survived by his granddaughter, Christin McClure and husband, Quinten of Anna, Texas; grandson, Tyler Rogers and fiancée, Katie of Van Alstyne; grandchildren, Slade and Sayler Love and Clayton and Claire Neville; great-grandchildren, Cora, Millie, and Aullie; daughter-in-law, Kelly Jo Rogers of McKinney; sister-in-law, Patsy Young of Lucas; nieces, Holly Sudduth of Austin and Julie McCurry of Fairview; brother, Doyle Rogers of Smithville; and numerous other loving family and friends.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Flora Rogers; his first wife, Mildred Rogers; his second wife, Fredna Rogers; his son, Russell “Rusty” Dean Rogers; and his brothers, Wallace Rogers and Roy Rogers; and his sisters, Edith Bolin, Mary Hellner, Alma Jean Jones and Leta May Vickrey.
A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 17, 2017 at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas with Tyler Rogers officiating. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
