Tom Hoefer passed away on May 15, 2026, at the age of 79. He was born on January 18, 1947, in San Antonio, Texas to Louis Otto Hoefer and Santa Jeanette (Romagno) Hoefer.
Tom graduated from W. T. White High School in Dallas, Texas with the Class of 1966. He married the love of his life, Janice Byrd, on February 14, 1978, in Sherman, Texas.
Tom was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1969 to 1975. Tom owned and operated Sta-Tex Roofers for many years. Outside of work, he was a rancher who loved his cows. He also enjoyed barbecue cooking and competing in BBQ competitions. He was a longtime member of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association and loved listening to music from the 1950s and 1960s. Above all, Tom treasured spending time with his family and creating lasting memories with those he loved most.
Tom will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Hoefer of Lucas, Texas; grandson, Jacob Thomas Hoefer of Gainesville, Texas; daughter, Louisa Laverne Hoefer of Ohio; and numerous other extended family members and friends.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, son, Thomas Darrin Hoefer, and brothers, James Anthony Hoefer and Gerald Wayne Hoefer.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 22, 2026 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. Following the service, a procession will make its way to Fitzhugh Cemetery in Lucas, Texas for a committal service.
