Todd Randall Sommers, age 70, of Allen, Texas passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, in Allen. He was born in Bonners Ferry, Idaho on January 23,1952 to the late Richard and Betty (Larson) Sommers. Todd grew up in Long Prairie, Minnesota where he was very active in sports, hunting, riding horses, snowmobiling, and having fun with his many friends and family at their home on Lake Charlotte. Todd married Sharon Gross on December 29, 1979 in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota. They moved from Minnesota to Bonners Ferry, Idaho in 1981 where they opened Todd’s Cake and Steak restaurant. In 1990, Todd, Sharon, and their daughter Stephanie moved to Texas where Natalie was born and Todd began working for his Uncle John Sommers at Melco Embroidery. For the majority of his career, Todd was a salesman for Brother International and most recently, SWF. He was a member of Grace Church in Plano, Texas for 32 years. Todd loved Sunday dinners with his family, going to high school football games, working in his garden, working with horses, and connecting with friends near and far via Facebook or over a cup of coffee.
Todd is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Sharon Sommers of Allen, Texas; daughters and sons-in-laws, Stephanie and Blake Sims of Royse City, Texas and Natalie and William Bethel of Allen, Texas; sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy and Chuck Eldred of Long Prairie, Minnesota, Kerry and Ric Dressen of Edina, Minnesota and Kristy Jue and Robert Doig of Nolensville, Tennessee; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other loving family and friends. Todd was preceded in death by brother-in-law Frank Jue.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Nick Eldred, Jack Dressen, Seth Green, Bryson Green, and Blaine Green.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. The service will be live streamed at https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/todd-randall-sommers. After the service, the recorded live stream will be available at the same link location.
In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations to The Lions Clubs International and Project Rescue.
