IN LOVING MEMORY

Toby Lee Harmon

Apr 09 1956 - Aug 24 2020

Toby Lee Harmon was born on April 9, 1956, in Irving, Texas.  Toby was a graduate of Nimitz High School’s Class of 1976.  After spending much of his life in Irving, he relocated to Richardson, Texas, when he and Melanie married in 2000.  They moved the family to Parker, Texas, in 2002, where Toby lived until he left for Heaven at the too-young age of 64.

In his younger years, Toby enjoyed baseball, track, gymnastics, water-skiing, and listening to his favorite bands.  His interests later evolved to include woodworking and photography as well.  But his favorite pastime was being on the sidelines or in the audience cheering on his sons, his great nephews, his great niece, and his granddaughter, no matter what sport or activity they participated in over the years.  After following his favorite football team, the Allen Eagles, for many years, he was especially excited last year to watch his great nephew play for that team and his great niece perform at halftime with the drill team.

Toby never met a stranger; he loved talking to anyone and everyone.  He was never just a friend on the surface; he always took a deeper interest in others’ lives, and his numerous friendships have endured through the years.

Toby departed this life on August 24, 2020, following complications from liver and colon surgery in his battle against cancer.  He passed peacefully with Melanie by his side.  His life continues as he reunites with those loved ones who welcomed him into Heaven that day, including his mother, Betty Jo Everts; his father, George Oliver Harmon; his brother, Marcus Bennett Harmon; and numerous other family members and lifelong friends.

His loved ones who remain behind to treasure and share all the memories of Toby include his wife, Melanie Harmon; his son and daughter-in-law, Austin Scott and Katie McLaughlin; his son, Hunter Scott; his granddaughter, Cali Grace Scott; his sister, Nancy Harmon-Shoemaker; his nephews, Trey Shoemaker and Toby Shoemaker; his niece, Jeanette Shoemaker; his great niece, Zoe Shoemaker, and great nephews, Julius Shoemaker, Jace Walker, and Benjamin Shoemaker; numerous other family members; and many cherished friends.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Toby’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2020, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North at Ridgeview Drive, Allen, Texas.  Toby never liked having to dress up, so his Memorial Service will be very casual; jeans and comfortable shoes are encouraged.  There will be a time during the service for any family or friends to stand and briefly share their favorite happy memories of Toby.  Our wish is that peace and comfort will be found in those shared memories in the weeks and years to come.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Samaritan’s Purse (samaritanspurse.org) or your favorite charity.

For those unable to attend, the service will be live-streamed on https://www.facebook.com/TurrentineJacksonMorrow/

In support of our local, state, and federal government including CDC directives and to protect the physical health, safety and well-being of our community, only a limited number of 100 guests will be allowed to attend the Memorial Service.

However, when the maximum number of guests are reached, those who would like to honor Toby and show their support to his family may remain at the funeral home in your vehicle, where you can watch the live streamed service on your personal device (laptop, tablet or smartphone) or listen through a designated FM radio channel.
