IN LOVING MEMORY

Tim Tandy Wright

Jan 23 1943 - Nov 01 2020

Tim Tandy Wright of Plano, Texas, met his beloved Jesus on November 1, 2020, at the age of 77. After a valiant fight, he succumbed to complications arising from the Covid-19 virus.

Tim was a larger than life character and the patriarch of a vibrant extended family. His love for everyone was evident, based on his actions. He always had time to lend an ear or a word of advice.  His world revolved around his family, specifically the love of his life, his wife Carol Ann (Duncan) Wright.

Tim was born in Dallas, Texas, on January 23, 1943, to J.D. and Coralee (Tandy) Wright. He spent his formative years in Perryton, Texas, graduating from Perryton High School in 1961.

Tim received a football scholarship to Texas Tech University, where he played running back from 1961-1962. While at Texas Tech, he was a member of the Saddle Tramps and Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He received his bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech in 1965. There he met his beloved wife, Carol. They were married in Vernon, Texas, on September 5, 1965.  Tim and Carol were married for 55 years.

Tim proudly served his country in the Navy as an Air Traffic Controller and pilot.

After several years working as a Certified Public Accountant, Tim came to know Jesus Christ as his lord and savior. His love for Christ was so strong that he quit accounting to study at Dallas Theological Seminary. While at the Seminary, Wright acted as the school’s chief financial officer. Many credit his stewardship of that time with saving the seminary from bankruptcy.

After receiving his Master of Arts in Biblical Sciences in 1979, Tim returned to public accounting, founding what became known as Perkins Wright and Associates. His reputation for honesty and integrity, mixed with his unique ability to relate to individuals and businesses, quickly helped the firm grow to one of the leading accounting firms in the Dallas area. Later in life, Tim was blessed to work in the same office as all three of his adult sons. Tim was a Certified Public Accountant for more than 55 years and continued consulting clients, even from his hospital bed at the end of his life. His dedication to those that depended upon him was unparalleled.

Tim dedicated his life to his family. He was incredibly proud that all three of his sons were able to achieve post-graduate degrees and become successful in their chosen careers. While his sons were growing up, he was the coach of most of their little league teams. His life revolved around his children’s activities. He is referred to as a second father by many of his children’s friends.

Tim took joy in being “G-Dad” to his ten grandchildren. He spoiled them much to their parents’ chagrin. He frequently joked that he would have had them first if he had known how fun grandchildren were. His famous belly-laugh was never more prominent than when interacting with his grandchildren. He rarely missed any event where his grandchildren participated.

Tim remained steadfast in his love for Jesus Christ throughout his life. He served as an Elder at Trinity Bible Church in Richardson. He was a financial advisor and more to countless ministries over the years.  He was the official at numerous weddings and funerals, where he always told the congregation of his love for Christ. Tim was actively involved in Chase Oaks Church in Plano, Texas, at the time of his death.  He believed in grace and modeled Jesus’ love through the grace he extended to others.

Tim’s love of hot dogs and oreo cookies was famous. He was never late to anything, and if flying for travel, he would be at the airport at least 3-4 hours early, much to the annoyance of anyone traveling with him. He was an avid gardener, and his yard always looked better than anyone in the neighborhood. He called the members of his family almost every day just to check on their well-being.  His family and countless friends whose lives he touched deeply will miss him terribly.

Tim is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Ann Wright of Plano, Texas; sons, Tony Nathan Wright, and wife, Katherine of Allen, Texas, Gregory D. Wright and wife, Toni of Plano, Texas, and Timothy David Wright of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Nathan, Preston, Allison, Tiegan, Seth, Luke, Olivia, Jacob, Zachary and Zoe; brother, Roger D. Wright, and wife, Eleanor of Amarillo, Texas; sister, Nancy Young, and husband, Jim of Weatherford, Oklahoma; and a host of other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, Tom Locke, and sister-in-law, Jill Duncan.

Because of the current restrictions, as well as the family’s fervent wish that the Covid-19 virus does not infect any other loved ones, for now, there will be a private, family-only memorial service. The private memorial service will also be live-streamed on Monday, November 9, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at TJMfuneral.com on Tim’s obituary page by clicking on the following link: Celebrationoflife.tv. After the service, the recorded live stream will be available for viewing at the same link location.

The family will hold an epic celebration of Tim’s life soon. Details of the larger celebration will be forthcoming as soon as they are available.

Those who would like to honor Tim and show their support to his family may come to the funeral home where ample parking is available. While you remain in your vehicle, you may watch the live-streamed service on your personal device (laptop, tablet, or smartphone) or listen through a designated FM radio channel.
