IN LOVING MEMORY

Tiak Chye Phua

Nov 25 1962 - Jun 07 2026

Tiak Chye Phua, a devoted husband, proud father, and hardworking professional, passed away on June 7, 2026, at the age of 63.

Born in Singapore on November 25, 1962, Tiak Chye grew up with a strong sense of purpose. Right after graduating from secondary school, he answered the call to service and joined the Singapore Air Force. Over a five‑year period while working, he continued his training at the polytechnic to deepen his skills. His sharp mind and technical talents led him to a distinguished, nearly 42-year career as an electrical engineer within the Singapore Air Force.

In 1995, Tiak Chye married the love of his life, Quak Ching Tan. Together, they shared a beautiful journey that spanned continents. As his career progressed, the couple moved back and forth between Singapore and the United States, ultimately welcoming three beloved children into the world: Darren, Jermaine, and Joel. In 2025, the couple officially settled down in Dallas, Texas.

An incredibly hard worker, Tiak Chye was known above all else for his fierce devotion to his family. He loved bragging about his children and was never afraid to speak his mind. Warm, social, and genuinely charismatic, he made friends effortlessly wherever life took him. No matters where he goes in Singapore, he always ends up running into a friend.

Tiak Chye possessed a unique joy for life’s simple pleasures. He found great satisfaction in keeping cars immaculate, frequently cleaning his and his children’s vehicles. He loved the excitement of the casinos, where he could often be found enjoying the slots, blackjack, and baccarat. On weekends, he cherished spending time with his kids and always had a knack for finding the best deals.

Perhaps his greatest gift to those around him was his culinary generosity. Tiak Chye expressed his love through food, taking immense joy in preparing and providing delicious meals for all to enjoy. His legacy of love, hard work, and vibrant spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and the many friends he made throughout his lifetime.

He is survived by his wife, Quak Ching Tan; his sons, Darren Wei Cheng Phua, and Joel Wei Xiang Phua (and fiancée Fan); his daughter, Jermaine Zhi Xuan Phua; his sisters, Ee Kuan Phua, and Ee Teng Phua; and his brother Tiak Tong Phua. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, consistency, and devotion, and he will be deeply loved, respected, and missed by his family, friends, and colleagues.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 19, 2026 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
