Thurmon "Gene" Bennett

Thurmon Gene Bennett, age 73, of Trenton, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on July 5, 2019.  He was born on September 21, 1945, in Olustee, Oklahoma, to Flora Lee (Stephens) and James Arrow Bennett.  Gene married the love of his life, Ruth Ann Moncier, on May 3, 1986, in McKinney, Texas, and they were of the Baptist faith.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army from September 1962 until August 1968.  Gene worked for Frisco Wholesale and Lumber for 33 years, until his retirement, where his employers and coworkers were just like family to him.  Gene was loved by all and will be dearly missed.

Left to treasure his memory are his beloved wife of 33 years, Ruth Ann Bennett; his children, Steven Hill and his wife, Paula, of Princeton, Texas, Keith Hill of McKinney, Texas, Edward Hill of Leonard, Texas, Bruce Hill and Kim Haynes of Whitewright, Texas, Leon Hill and his wife, Regina, of Melissa, Texas; Gene was blessed with ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly and whom he loved so much; his siblings, Ben Bennett and his wife, Aline, of Greenville, Texas, Bob Bennett and his wife, Gloria of Dallas, Texas, Ella Scott of McKinney, Texas, Marie Wade and her husband, Tommy, of Gunter, Texas.

Gene was preceded in death by his brother, Franklin Dee Bennett; his mother, Flora (Flo) May; and his stepdad, Johnny May. 

The family invites friends to a visitation at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 8520 Main Street, Frisco, Texas, on Monday, July 8, 2019, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  A funeral service will be held here on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, beginning at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Elwood Larson officiating. Interment to follow at Ridgeview West Memorial Park.
