IN LOVING MEMORY

Thongkham Khamnouane

Oct 20 1920 - Nov 15 2021

Thongkham Khamnouane passed away on November 15, 2021, at the age of 101.  He was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy.

According to the history of the Dai culture, Pa Yazhen, the leader of the Dai nationality in 1180, unified all the tribes of Xishuangbanna and established the "Jinglong Golden Palace" now located in the heart of Jinghong, China. Since then, the ruling power has been passed on from father to son and from son to grandson-inherited from generation to generation for nearly 800 years. The 40th Dai King of Xishuangbanna was Thongkham’s grandfather. Thongkham spent his early years and young adult life in Jinghong, where he married Keo Khamnouane and started a family there.

Thongkham was a thoughtful, intelligent, and strong individual: traits made especially apparent as he uprooted his life in Asia and moved his family to the United States so they and future generations could have better opportunities. Thongkham shined brightest when caring for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He instilled in them his qualities of being patient, kind, and caring; these attributes will be passed down from generation to generation, and this is his legacy.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Turrentine- Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday evening at the funeral home. The service will also be live streamed at TJMfuneral.com on Thongkham’s obituary page by clicking on the following link: https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/thongkham-khamnouane.
