Thomas “Tom” Robert Pond of McKinney, Texas went to be with the Lord on October 23, 2018 at the age of 68. He was born April 21, 1950 to Phelps Frederic Pond and Mary (Lewis) Pond in Englewood, New Jersey. Tom attended Nurnberg American High School in Germany and graduated in 1968. He was a 1973 graduate of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas where he was a member of the Delta Sigma Pi Fraternity. Tom married Joann Mancuso on February 22, 1992 in Washington, D.C. He retired from the Dallas Central Appraisal District as the human resource manager and was active in the Society for Human Resource Management and Dallas HR. Tom was an audio-visual buff. He had a passion for photography, music and playing the drums. Tom used his time and talents by volunteering at his church, in our community and for McKinney ISD.
On this earth, he leaves behind his beloved wife, Joann Mancuso Pond of McKinney, Texas; son, Lee Pond of Tucson, Arizona; sister, Mia Pond of Atlanta, Georgia; brother, Phelps F. Pond, Jr. and wife Zameena of Concord, North Carolina; and nieces, great-nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Phelps and Mary Pond.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 27, 2018 at St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, 110 St. Gabriel Way, McKinney, Texas 75071. Interment is to follow at Little Bethel Memorial Park, 1803 Cedar Hill Road, Duncanville, Texas 75137. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday evening 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. A rosary is to follow.
In lieu of flowers, Tom’s request was that memorials may be made to St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church Building Fund, 110 St. Gabriel Way, McKinney, Texas 75071 in his name.
