Thomas Harry Jones, a man of genuine character, unwavering love, boundless compassion and an enthusiasm for life, left us on January 16, 2024. Tom was born on September 13, 1945 in Greenfield MA to Charles Addison and Corine Ann (Cole) Jones. Tom’s life was defined by family, service, insatiable curiosity for knowledge and a deep appreciation for life's simple pleasures.
On August 20, 1966, Thomas married Diane Irene Slauenwhite of Turners Falls, MA. Diane survives him residing in Lucas, TX. Their enduring bond created a foundation of love, resilience, and shared experiences. Thomas is remembered with love by his sons, Thomas W. Jones of Millinocket, ME, and Raymond M. Jones (Jobelle) of Lucas, TX. His legacy continues through his six grandchildren: Bronwyn Jones-.Austin (Derek), Caitlin Jones-Phillips (David), Emily Jones-Copeland (Alex), Crawford Jones, Lawson Jones, and Miller Jones. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Violet Austin, Dylan Jones, Charlotte Phillips, David Phillips III, Samuel Austin, and Theodore Phillips.
Remembered with love by his sister, Elizabeth Sanders, and her husband, Kenneth, of East Hampton, MA, Tom’s impact extended to many nieces and nephews, as well as a host of other family members. Preceding him in death were his parents, Charles Addison and Corinne Ann Jones, and his brother, Charles Addison Jones, Jr.
In 1966, Tom entered the United States Air Force, serving for eight years while continuing to pursue correspondence courses. After an Honorable Discharge in 1974 he became a dedicated employee spending 30 years at EDS, leaving a lasting impact on his colleagues.
An avid reader, Tom pursued education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Following retirement, he graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Texas at Dallas with a degree in History, later obtaining his teaching certification.
Tom’s love of travel and history was a testament to his curious and open-minded spirit. The impact of his life will remain in the memories he created and the genuine connections he fostered throughout his life.
A devoted Boston sports fan, Tom’s heart belonged to the New England Patriots, Boston Celtics, and, above all, the Boston Red Sox. His enthusiasm for these teams brought joy to family gatherings and friendly competitions.
Fond memories include throwing batting practice to his sons throughout their youth creating memories that will last a lifetime. Tom was closely involved in academic and sporting endeavors of all family members, fostering a love for sports that carried through generations. Beyond sports, Tom embraced the simplicity of life. An avid golfer and bowler, he found joy in these leisurely pursuits.
Tom’s appreciation for life extended to the beauty of nature, especially captured in his love for watching the sunset from wherever he happened to be. His grounded and unassuming nature endeared him to those who knew him.
Tom’s dedication to others was evident in his involvement with Grace To Change in McKinney, TX and PAL (Parents of Addicted Loved Ones) with chapters across the country. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to either of these organizations, reflecting Tom’s commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of others.

Thomas Harry Jones will be remembered for his down-to-earth demeanor, his love for family, and his appreciation for the simple joys of life. He will rest in peace, surrounded by the warmth of the memories he created and the love that endures in the hearts of those who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Monday, January 29, 2024 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas.
