Theresa Elizabeth Leszczynski of Allen, Texas passed away on October 6, 2020 at the age of 89. She was born on May 28, 1931, the first of two children, to Joseph and Mary Catherin (Anderson) Gigus in Bridgeport, Pennsylvania. Theresa attended Philadelphia schools. She met Joseph John Leszczynski in 1949 at a venue that hosted American Band Stand and married him. From there she became an army wife, traveling all over the world.
As an army wife, Theresa moved over 26 times, the last of which was to Allen, Texas. She was an outgoing individual who acted to right wrongs. Theresa loved to dance and sing. She loved cats and horses and she taught herself to knit, sew, and quilt. Theresa loved making bright colorful for Newborns in Need in support of Parkland Hospital of Dallas. She was very proud of the Runner Up Ribbon she won for her full-sized quilt in a ladder design in the Dallas Quilt Show in 2009.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 61 years, Joseph; children, Lisa and Joseph; grandchildren, Douglas Hines, Roderick Hines, Joseph Walter Leszczynski and Maria Leszczynski; brother-in-law, Walter Leszczynski; son-in-law, Dennis Hines; daughter-in-law, Luz Maria; great grandson, Alexander Ryker Hines; and numerous other loving family and friends.
Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Gigus.
The Leszczynski and Hines families would like to express our deepest gratitude to all our family and friends for their prayers, love, and support. Also, a special thanks to Grandbrook Memory Care, Monarch Senior Solutions, and Total Hospice & Pallative Care for their kindness and compassion as they cared for our mom.
In support of our local, state, and federal govt including CDC directives and to protect the physical health, safety and well-being of our community, only a limited number of guests will be allowed to attend the Funeral Service.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 12, 2020, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas.
