Terry Miller Hoofnel of St. Paul, Texas fought his final battle with cancer on April 7th, 2023 at the age of 65. Terry was born on August 23, 1957 to Edwin Thurman and Margaret (Miller) Hoofnel, in Louisville, Kentucky. Terry grew up in Jefferson, Kentucky where he attended J-town High School and met the love of his life, Missy, as teenagers.
Terry enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1976, earning the award of Platoon Honor Man during boot camp at Camp LeJeune. He served three years with the Marine Corps and was honorably discharged. While he was enlisted, he married Missy on July 3, 1976.
After his years of service, Terry and Missy moved to the North Texas area to begin his career in the area of construction. He devoted many years of work at the Crescent Building in downtown Dallas as a member of the Painters Union. His hard-work, leadership skills, and entrepreneurial mindset eventually led him to begin his own masonry company, known today as, Southland Stucco and Masonry. The company continues to live in his legacy under the helm of his son, Jeremy Hoofnel, and business partner, Jon Soliday.
Terry was an outspoken man, he was not afraid to share his thoughts and ideas. His personality was larger than life and his heart was just as big. He was a loving husband, father, PaPa, brother and uncle. You would often find Terry at one his favorite spots, the Family Lake House. He enjoyed spending his time at the lake house with family and friends in activities such as fishing, watersports, sitting on the back-porch visiting, and of course, providing the best 4th of July firework display that money could buy.
Terry had many accomplishments in his life, but what he treasured the most in life was his faith, family, and friends. He will be dearly missed by all that had the privilege to know him.
He is survived by his wife, Missy Hoofnel of St. Paul, Texas; daughter, Jenny Geiser and husband, Charles of Sachse, Texas; son, Jeremy Hoofnel and wife, Jessica of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Hailey, Hayden, Chloe, and Camille; siblings, Lana Montgomery (Sam), Vicki Hobson (Doug), and Gary Hoofnel; and many adored nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margie Martion; and brother, Eddie Hoofnel.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, TX, 75013.
