Terry Lee Linsteadt, age 63, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at home in Plano, Texas, with his family at his bedside. Terry was born on June 25, 1946 in Denison, Texas, living there until he graduated from Denison High School in 1964. After high school Terry joined the Navy and served two tours in Vietnam. He was awarded the Vietnam Service medal with three Bronze Stars and Fleet Marine Combat Insignia, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, Expert Rifleman Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. After returning home he earned his Bachelor’s Degree at American Christian College in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he was on the basketball team. Terry was a high school coach and teacher for many years and then joined Stewart Systems as Director of Pre-need Sales. Terry was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Carl and Juanita O'Neal Linsteadt, his brother Carl Linsteadt, and sister Helen Jackson. He is survived by his wife Sandi; sons, Davis Merrick of Denison, Daniel Linsteadt and wife Iva of Allen, and Dean Linsteadt and wife Charity of Sherman; step sons, Matt Richards of Carrollton, and Dave Richards and wife Kimberly of Flower Mound; grandchildren, Maddi Linsteadt, Hayden Linsteadt, Jake Richards, and Kaylee Richards; and niece Ginger Jackson. Terry was an adoring grandfather who loved spending time with his grandchildren and considered them his pride and joy. Terry was a dedicated and loving husband and father who wasn't afraid to show and share his affection daily. He will always be cherished.
Funeral services will be held at 11: 00 a.m., Saturday, January 2, 2010, at Midway Baptist Church with Pastor Ed Neal officiating. Internment will follow at 2: 00 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, Denison, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation held from 6: 00-8: 00 p.m. Friday, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in McKinney, Texas.
