IN LOVING MEMORY

Teddy Joyce Bowman

Feb 12 1943 - Nov 22 2021

Teddy Joyce Mitchell Bowman was born on February 12, 1943, in Dallas, Texas.  She was the daughter of Ted and Inez Mitchell.  She graduated from W.W. Samuell High School in 1961.

She married Ronald Bowman on July 6, 1963 at the Kaufman Highway Church of Christ, and enjoyed her life as an Air Force spouse, living in exotic locations around the United States and the world, including Panama City, Florida; Seattle/Tacoma, Washington; Misawa, Japan; Okinawa; Duluth, Minnesota; Luzon, Philippines; Phoenix, Arizona; and Austin, Texas, before settling back in Dallas with her family.

During her travels, Teddy gave birth to her two daughters, Kelley Lyn and Kristen Leigh. Despite being a busy young mother, Teddy took time to cultivate numerous friends and acquaintances among the local people in Asia. While many secluded themselves in the American enclaves, Teddy took the time to learn about local culture and was invited into the homes of many of her new friends, a great honor.

Once settled back in Dallas, Teddy devoted her time to her career as an Administrative Assistant and Executive Assistant, all the while supporting Kelley’s extracurricular dance and drill team activities and Kristen’s activities with the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra.

She was devoted to her extended family, and no occasion was more important to her than the Christmas holiday. She always went to the greatest lengths to ensure that Christmas celebrations were special for her daughters, grandchildren, siblings, and their children. Gifts from Grandma, Ama, or Aunt Teddy were always highly anticipated.

Teddy doted on her grandchildren, Kaitlin and Shea Hammons and Caleb and Emma Dixon. She was the proudest of proud grandmothers, always eager to support the kids in their athletic and artistic endeavors, and never tired of bragging on them to friends and family.

In later years, Teddy remained active in the Church of Christ and enjoyed spending her time shopping and going on adventures with her closest friend, Ann Dale.

She is survived by her daughters Kelley Hammons, Kristen Dixon, son-in-law David Hammons, son-in-law Michael Dixon, and her grandchildren Kaitlin Schmidtke and her husband Colt, Shea Hammons, Caleb Dixon, and Emma Dixon, brothers Ronald and Dennis Mitchell and their spouses, as well as by a host of loving nieces and nephews and their children.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 27th, 2021, at Berkshire Chapel, 9073 Berkshire Dr., Frisco, Texas, 75033. The service will be available for online viewing at the following link: https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/teddy-joyce-bowman
