Takako Hamaoka Scott, known to her family as Takako or “Aunt Betty” to her numerous nieces and nephews, passed away suddenly on July 29, 2023, in Fairview, Texas. She was born on June 1, 1933, in Kumamoto, Japan, to parents, Shizue Goto and Hajime Hamaoka. Takako was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, and her passing leaves a void in the lives of those who knew her.

Takako's life was defined by her unwavering love and dedication to her family. She will be remembered by her warm and radiant smile that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew her. She had an extraordinary gift for making others feel welcomed and at home, finding joy in nurturing to their needs and bringing comfort to their lives. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Marian Rika Hubbard, and son-in-law, John Hubbard, also of Fairview Texas, who were a constant source of joy and pride for her. Takako's grandson, Alexander Flewellen, brought immense happiness to her life, along with her sisters in Japan, Keiko and Tamiko. She was eagerly awaiting the wedding of her grandson to his fiancée, Maria Perez, and cherished the presence of her granddaughters, Mariah Hubbard and Darah Hubbard, as well as her great-grandchildren, Lillian Flewellen, Leia Flewellen, Jonah Esquivel, Judah Esquivel, and Stash Johnson.

Takako will be fondly remembered for her passion for crochet, origami, sewing, cooking, and her meticulous approach to cleaning her house every weekend. These hobbies allowed her to express her creativity and attention to detail, leaving behind beautiful works of art and a pristine home. Her talent and dedication were truly inspiring.

Takako met her future husband, Matthew Scott, Jr., while he was serving in the United States Navy. They were married in Fukuoka, Japan on March 20, 1959, and remained married 58 years until his death on June 5, 2017. Takako Scott was also preceded in death by her mother, father, and five siblings.

The legacy of Takako Scott will live on through the memories shared by her family and friends. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother who touched the lives of many.
