Mr. T. W. Goode( Bear or Tinkie) of Denton, formerly from Farmersville, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 30, 2016 at Denton Regional Hospital in Denton, Texas. T. W. was born on May 8, 1922 in Merit, Texas to Tonnie and Annie Christopher Goode. He entered the Army in 1942 and served in North Africa and Italy with the 135th Infantry Regiment, 34th Division until 1945. He married Gladys Beola DeMent in 1949 and they farmed until he went to work for the Veterans Hospital in McKinney, Texas and later the Veterans National Cemetery in Houston, Texas. He retired after 30 years of service and returned to Farmersville. He then worked for the Garland Power Plant and retired there after 10 years of service.
T. W. is preceded in death by his wife, Gladys, his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his daughter, Connie Hicks and husband Mark of Denton, Texas; granddaughter, Ashley Brice and husband Kenton of Norman, Oklahoma; grandson; Andrew Hicks of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; nieces and nephews and many beloved friends.
He loved his church family at Trinity Baptist Church in Farmersville and was a very active member and served as head of the deacons for many years. In his later years he enjoyed passing out bulletins and getting to services early to greet members and guests. We have all been blessed to have known and love him. His gift of prayer and his green thumb will be missed.
The viewing and visitation will be on Friday August 5th from 6-8 P.M. at Hursts’ Fielder Baker funeral home in Farmersville, Texas and the funeral will be on Saturday, August 6th at 11:00 A.M. at the Trinity Baptist Church in Farmersville. The Reverends Miller McClure and Rev. Chase Smith will officiate and interment will follow at the Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Trinity Baptist Church building and grounds fund.
