IN LOVING MEMORY

Sylvia Olga Sanchez

May 31 1953 - Apr 07 2022

Sylvia Olga Sanchez of Dallas, Texas, left the earth Thursday evening, April 7, 2022. Sylvia was born in Laredo, Texas on May 31, 1953, and although she would later settle in Dallas, Laredo would always hold a special place in her heart. Affectionately referred to as the “Queen Bee” she loved her family something fierce, especially her two boys, Tommy and Mikal. Sylvia could often be seen cooking up requests in the kitchen with quite the speed that almost always included homemade flour tortillas the circumference of whole dinner plates. She absolutely loved to go Tejano dancing, flipping her beautiful, signature long blonde hair about as she danced the night away with her devoted husband and partner of many years, Manny. Spending time with her sisters whether it just be congregating around the living room reflecting and laughing or one of their frequent trips to play the [slot] machines always brought her so much joy. Later in life when her grandchildren were born, Sylvia would dawn another moniker, “Mama Syl.” Showering Walker, Holden and Ezra with love and gifts and watching them grow became a source of Mama Syl’s greatest jubilation. A beloved and cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, tia, grandmother and caretaker, Sylvia above all loved and sacrificed much to put her family first.

She is survived by her faithful and supportive husband, Manuel Villa of Dallas, Texas; loving and caring sons and their spouses, Tomas and Asante Sanchez of Richardson, Texas and Mikal Sanchez and Saige Belle of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Walker, Holden and Ezra; adoring sisters, Beatriz Lopez and husband, Javier of Laredo, Texas,  Juanita Puente of Richardson, Texas, Lydia [Lily] Rogerio and husband,  Jesse Rogerio of Laredo, Texas; brothers,  Roy Puente of Dallas, Texas, Juan [Meme] Puente of Garland, Texas, Reymundo [Nando] Puente of Mesquite, Texas,  as well as several nieces and nephews.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Juan M. and Estella Puente, sisters, Mary Alice Puente, Mary Frances Peña [Frances], and her brother, Julio Puente.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
