Sylvia “Pete” Holland of Dallas, Texas passed away May 21, 2023, at the age of 103. She was born to Earl Travis and Bessie May (Weatherly) Bogard on October 14, 1919, in McKinney, Texas. Pete grew up in McKinney and graduated from McKinney High School. She worked 20 years at Safeway Grocery Store in McKinney. Pete married Billy J Holland on April 26, 1947. She loved cooking and gardening, Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, and her family most of all.
Pete is survived by her sister, Pat Bruce of Raymondville, Texas, her children, Barbara Ann Coleman of Carrollton, Texas, Lynda Holland Leake and husband Brian Roughton of Dallas, Texas, Billy Joe Holland of Baird, Texas, grandchildren, Bart Bruton, Kelley Shuford and her husband, Jimmy, Courtnaye Kelly and her husband Dave, Donna Miller, and husband Marc; nine great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Charles Bogard, Doris Bogard and sister, Betty Cowen.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caregivers Joyce Burks, Yvonne Pierce and Joyce Sneed for their loving care and service to Ms. Pete.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 24th, 2023, at Pecan Grove Cemetery in McKinney, Texas. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Tuesday to pay their respects and sign the register book.
