Sydney Elizabeth Galway, age 21 of Frisco, Texas, passed away on December 25, 2018, in Dallas, Texas. She was born on December 30, 1996, to Beth (Elliott) and Daniel James Galway in Plano, Texas. Syd was a student at the University of Arkansas majoring in Animal Science and a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She was a 2015 graduate of The Shelton School in Dallas.
Sydney was often described as having an infectious smile, charming personality and was a bright beam of light. After her leukemia diagnosis (AML) in 2016, Sydney fought a long and brave battle. She received exceptional care from the Medical City Dallas Oncology teams. She inspired many with her positive outlook, strength and fight.
Sydney was a dog lover and worked as a pet groomer. She was an avid movie watcher, loved to sing and loved everything Disney. Sydney also loved to play volleyball, earning multiple district and school honors in high school. She loved to spend time with her family and friends.
Sydney is survived by her parents, Beth and Dan Galway of Frisco, Texas; sister, Dana Wade and her husband, JT, of Plano, Texas; grandparents, Judy Elliott “Mamaw” of Magnolia, Arkansas and Jean Galway “Grandma” of Lena, Illinois; her uncle, Jay Elliott and his wife, Lisa, her aunt, Lori Daniels and her husband, Dana, and her cousins, Adriane and Glenn Delaney and their sons Ty and Hastin, Whitney and Robert Sharp, Billy and Jen Penick and their son, Mister, and Lauren Penick; and numerous loving friends.
Syd was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Wyley Elliott and Jim Galway.
Family and friends are invited to a Visitation on Friday, December 28, 2018, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018, at the funeral home beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Ridgeview West Memorial Park, 7800 Sanctuary Drive, Frisco, Texas 75033.
