Sybil Ann Cotnoir

Sybil Ann Cotnoir of Allen, Texas joined our heavenly father on May 2, 2020 at the age of 83.  She was born July 1, 1936 to Paul Wesley Fain, Sr. and Mary Paroski Fain in Dallas, Texas. Sybil married Ray Cotnoir on September 13, 1957 in Dallas, Texas. She worked as a librarian and church secretary. Sybil was a long-time member of St. Jude Catholic Church.

Sybil graduated from Ursuline Academy, received her Associate’s degree from North TX State University where she majored in journalism and was a sorority member of Kappa Delta. She was also editor of the university newspaper. This is where she met the love of her life, Ray.

Her love of reading, search for knowledge, journalism, literature, and books led her to a long career as a librarian. She worked at Fondren Library at SMU, Roundtree Elementary Library, Plano Public Library, and the Allen Public Library.

In addition, she was also the church secretary for many years at both Saint Augustine Catholic Church in Dallas and Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in McKinney.

As a wife and mother of four daughters, she was most devoted to her family first. She is survived by her loving husband of sixty-two years, Ray Cotnoir of Allen, Texas; daughters, Renee Capehart and husband, John of Rowlett, Texas, Charon Cotnoir and husband, Patrick Dean of Arlington, Texas, Julie Simmons and husband, James of Plano, Texas, Leigh Cotnoir and wife, Char Roberts of La Mesa, California; grandchildren, Andy Capehart, Zach Capehart, Ashby Dean, James Dean, Sydney Roberts, Shannon Roberts; great-grandchildren, Savannah Capehart, Dalton Capehart, Baylee Capehart, Hunter Capehart, Sybil Capehart, Zen Ray Bucur; sister, Yvonne Spence of Rowlett, Texas; brother, Thomas Fain and wife, Karen of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and a host of other loving family and friends.

Sybil was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Paul.

A rosary service will be held at 10:15 a.m., Monday, May 11, 2020 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1515 N. Greenville Avenue, Allen, Texas 75002. A funeral mass will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m..
