IN LOVING MEMORY

Suzanne McTeer

Oct 30 1939 - Mar 10 2018

Suzanne McTeer passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at her home in Frisco, Texas, following a 5-year battle with cancer.  A native Texan, she was born in Houston on October 30, 1939, to Roland Fortier and Madeline Yandow Fortier, the first of four daughters.  The family moved several times while Suzanne was young and settled in St. Mary’s, Georgia, during her high school and college years.  She met her husband, Bob, at the University of Georgia, where they graduated and he served on the faculty.  They had two sons in Athens, Georgia: Doyal and Scott, who now live in Timonium, Maryland, and Austin, Texas.

Suzanne is survived by Bob, her husband of 55 years; her two sons, Doyal and Scott; daughter-in-law, Susan Fisher McTeer; and two grandchildren, Candace and her husband Kent Mottice, and Ryan McTeer.  She is also survived by her three sisters, Julie Fortier of Crownsville, Maryland, Mary Anne Murray and her husband, Ed, of St Mary's, Georgia, and Janet Davies and her husband Jim of Plaistow, New Hampshire; and sister-in-law, Beverly Lewis, of Calhoun, Georgia.

Suzanne was, above all, a devoted mother with unconditional love for family and friends.  She was a high school beauty queen and later a tennis mom, who enjoyed playing club tennis.  She was a world class shopper with a good eye for bargains from Neiman’s to the Canton Flea Market.  Suzanne played the piano and sang in her church choir.  She was high maintenance, especially when it came to hair and nails.  She was a lovely “first lady” to her husband Bob when he headed the Dallas Fed and The A&M University System.

A Word Service will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 8000 Eldorado Parkway, Frisco, Texas 75033 on Friday, March 16, 2018 beginning at 11:00 AM.  Family and friends are invited to Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home at 8520 Main Street, Frisco, for a Visitation on March 15, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.  Interment will be held at Fain Cemetery in Calhoun, Georgia, on Sunday, March 17, 2018, with Thomas Funeral Home officiating.
