IN LOVING MEMORY

Susan Mulford Little

Nov 19 1938 - Apr 21 2019

Susan Mulford Little of Allen, Texas, passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 21, 2019. She took her last breath peacefully, surrounded by loving family and holding the hand of her beloved husband, Tom. Her family and many friends will miss the twinkle in her eye.

Susan was born on November 19, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, to John W. and Andrea (Burks) Mulford. Her sister, Mary Graham survives her; their older sister Joan passed away in 2007.

Susan married Thomas Little, the love of her life, on September 29, 1959, in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. They met at Northwestern University, and maintained an extensive circle of friends for decades, attending numerous Homecoming Reunions and rooting faithfully for their Wildcats — even during the years when they didn’t have much to root for!

Sue and Tom spent their 59 years of marriage surrounded by friends and active in every place they lived — Winnetka; Chappaqua; Dallas; Hilton Head; Wilmington, Vermont; and Sarasota, Florida. Some of Sue’s most cherished memories included summers at the cottage, family Christmases and cribbage games in Vermont, being poolside or at the beach just about anywhere (from the shores of Lake Michigan to the Florida coast), and the many hours she spent playing golf, especially at MKCC. She never let Tom forget that she was the only golfer in the family who’d shot a “hole-in-one.”

Although illness limited her activities during the past year, Sue kept up with friends from far and near with daily texts and emails. She was a keen competitor on Words with Friends. And those she played with will miss their games together.

A devoted mother to her four daughters —Carrie, Debbie, Sharon, and Patti, Sue was very active in their lives as they grew up, volunteering in their schools, supporting their interests, and attending hundreds of events over the years. We daughters knew that wherever we went, mom would be there. She always welcomed our friends into our home and along on vacations and we were lucky to have had several “semi-siblings” as we grew up.

Sue is survived by her loving husband, Tom; her daughters, Carrie (Chris) Pilon, Debbie Causey, and Patti Little Scott; nine grandchildren, Chris Mitchell (Rachel), Brittany Causey, Lisa Causey Bauman (Blake), Kara Causey, Will Pilon (Nathalie), Teresa, Annamarie, and Andrew Pilon, Nicolette Scott; and four great-grandchildren, Lydia Sharon, William Wallace, Christian, and Chloé.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon, whom she missed every day and will surely rejoice to embrace again in Heaven.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday, April 26, 2019 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.

The family requests that donations be made to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in memory of Susan M. Little.
