Susan Kay Smith, age 77, formerly of Plano, Texas, passed away December 26, 2017. She was born October 22, 1940 in Joplin Missouri, to Charles and Pauline (Miller) Wells. On October 3, 1961, Susan married Jerry Smith in Joplin, Missouri. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.
Susan was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She loved making a home a home. When you entered her home it always felt welcoming. Christmas was her favorite time of year. She loved taking the time to wrap each present with bows, ribbons, and a ton of hot glue. She enjoyed spending summers with her granddaughter crafting and teaching her to make gifts. In her final years she enjoyed riding around with Jerry seeing courthouses. She loved spending quality time with her family. She was a thoughtful person and always knew the right thing to say at the right time. She loved holding and talking to her great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed and cherished for the rest of our days.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Smith of Dallas, Texas; daughter, Sherri Hernandez of Rowlett, Texas; granddaughter, Chelsea Bedard and husband Nathan of McKinney, Texas; great-grandchildren, Nathaniel and Jonah Bedard; sister, Sally Beck and husband Elmer of Neosho, Missouri; numerous other loving relatives and friends.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Pauline Wells.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Christ United Methodist Church, 3101 Coit Road, Plano, Texas 75075.
