Susan Marie Greenburg

Susan Marie Greenburg, age 89, of San Antonio, Texas, died gently, early on the morning of March 9, 2008, in Allen, Texas. Susan was born in 1918 in New York City to Isidore and Clara Bernstein. She graduated from high school in 1936 and graduated as a licensed dental hygienist in 1946. Mrs. Greenburg earned her bachelors degree in 1957 and her masters degree in education in 1960. She taught at Incarnate Word High School, Incarnate Word College and St. Phillips College. Susan married Dr. S. Thomas Greenburg, in 1951 and moved with him to San Antonio, Texas, where he served as professor of philosophy, and president at Incarnate Word College. She was an active member of several organizations including The Gibbons Club, The Tuesday Musical Club, and the Edith Stein Guild. Susan was a long time active member and past president of the San Antonio chapter of the National Society of Arts and Letters. She also served as a member and lecturer for the San Antonio chapter of Birthright International. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Mitzner; daughter, Joyce Mazero, a Dallas attorney; son, Robert M. Greenburg, Ph.D.; grandchildren, Michael, Peter, Alex, and Dominique and great-grandchildren, Angel and Isabel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Thomas Greenburg, in 2000. A funeral mass will be held at 12:30 PM, Thursday, March 13, 2008, at Holy Cross Mausoleum Chapel in San Antonio, Texas. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday beginning at 11:30 AM.
