IN LOVING MEMORY

Sue Anne Arthur

Sep 21 1940 - Sep 27 2024

Sue Anne Arthur, a resident of Frisco, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2024, at the age of 84. She was born on September 21, 1940, to Norris H. Tuttle and Ella Francis (Cox) Tuttle in Mobile, Alabama.

A proud graduate of Murphy High School, she went on to earn her bachelor's degree from Brenau College in Gainesville, Georgia. On July 15, 1962, she married her beloved husband, James Thomas Arthur, at the First Baptist Church in Mobile. Together, they created a loving home for their two daughters, instilling in them the values of kindness, community, and the importance of family.

While Sue Anne dedicated part of her career to education as a teacher at Albany High School in Albany, Georgia, and later as a part-time high school librarian in Middletown, New Jersey, her greatest passion was always her family. She poured her heart into nurturing a warm and supportive environment for her loved ones.

Sue Anne was a tireless volunteer, generously giving her time to causes that mattered to her community. She served as a Girl Scout Leader, organized Halloween carnivals, and actively supported various school and sporting activities. Always her children’s biggest fan, she cheered them on at cheerleading competitions, soccer games, and dance recitals.

An avid card player who loved Bridge and Canasta, Sue Anne also enjoyed golfing and was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church in Plano, where she used her gift of music to sing alto in the choir.

Known affectionately as someone who could connect with anyone, her family lovingly referred to her as their social butterfly, never meeting a stranger. She couldn’t go anywhere without running into someone she knew. Sue Anne’s warmth and love made her a cherished friend and community member, and her legacy of kindness will continue to resonate with all who knew her.

She lived a life rich in love, devotion, and service to her family and community. Sue Anne will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by her family and all whose lives she touched.

Sue Anne is survived by her husband of 62 years, J. Thomas “Tom”Arthur of Frisco, Texas; daughters, Carole Poole and husband, Cary of Kings Mountain, North Carolina and Shannon Thornton and husband, Mark of Frisco, Texas; granddaughter, Madison Thornton of Fort Smith, Arkansas; grandson, Reid Thornton of Frisco, Texas; and numerous other loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Norris and Ella Tuttle.
