Steven Odus Brasher

Steven Odus Brasher, age 51, of McKinney, Texas, passed away on January 15, 2024. He was born on August 18, 1972, in Jackson, Mississippi, to John Odus Brasher and Lynnie Jean (Williams) Brasher.

Steven's childhood was marked by diverse experiences as he grew up in Jackson, Mississippi, Gulfport, Mississippi, Houston, Texas, and Jacksonville, Texas. Steven was a 1990 graduate of Jacksonville High School in Jacksonville, Texas. He continued his education and earned his bachelor's degree from Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches, Texas. During his college years, Steven was actively involved in college baseball, showcasing his passion for the sport while playing at Lon Morris and Collin College.

Throughout his life, Steven dedicated himself to the Recruitment Industry, leaving a mark on the profession he loved. His commitment and hard work touched the lives of many.

He was an avid fan of Texas music, finding joy in the melodies that echoed the spirit of the Lone Star State, but his passion was his kids.  Whether it was fishing or hunting with Sam, watching M.E. on the soccer field or just enjoying a lazy day with them watching the Dallas Cowboys, Steven’s kids were his heart. 

Steven was a devoted member of Cottonwood Baptist Church in Allen, Texas, where he found spiritual nourishment and a sense of community. His faith played a significant role in shaping his values and guiding him throughout his life.

Steven Odus Brasher had a servant’s heart, always willing to pitch in and help with whatever someone needed done.  He will be remembered for his giving heart, bright smile, and love for family.

He is survived by  his son, Sam Brasher; daughter, Mary Elizabeth “ME” Brasher and their mother, Julie Hutchings, all of McKinney, Texas; parents, John and Lynn Brasher of Allen, Texas; brother, Jimmy Brasher and wife, Kelli, also of Allen, Texas; nephew, Jacob Brasher of Allen, Texas and niece, Shea Brasher of Allen, Texas; and a host of other loving family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held in honor of Steven at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Cottonwood Creek Church, 1015 Sam Rayburn Tollway, Allen, Texas 75013.  The family arrive by 12:30 to receive visitors.

In lieu of flowers, the family would request memorial donations be made in Steven’s name to the Alzheimer's Association.
