Stephen Jabulani Issa

January 24, 1956 - March 15, 2021

Stephen Jabulani Issa passed away peacefully in our family home, just as he wished, at 10:08 p.m. on Monday, March 15, 2021. Roni, his wife of 25 years, was by his side when he took his last breath and can honestly say that he was truly at peace - there was no struggle, only comfort.

Stephen was born on January 24, 1956 to Stephen W. and June Carolyn (Griffin) Clark in Detroit, Michigan. He lived a full and charmed life as a devoted husband, engaged father and active community servant, educator, and humble leader. Stephen privately, gracefully, and courageously soldiered through a 2-year battle with cancer, beating the odds and rallying beyond medical expectations many times. Through it all, he remained positive, faithful, and never lost hope. Stephen selflessly touched and positively impacted many lives during his 65 years, on this planet. He is now able to continue his service, on another sphere, free of any physical limitations. Stephen’s example and kind spirit will prevail as a living legacy in his beautiful and accomplished stepdaughter, Kelley and his 15-year-old son, Bakari, whom Stephen shared his greatest joys with and both of whom made him very proud.

Stephen's message to those he loved was "Bye for now, I'll see you on the other side"...

Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. The service will also be live streamed at TJMfuneral.com on Stephen’s obituary page by clicking on the following link: Celebrationoflife.tv. I will forever look back with fondness and gratitude on my time working with Stephen both as a co-worker and later as my Principal. I couldn't have asked for a better individual to work with. His willingness to listen to others and his undying devotion to helping our students overcome their struggles and move forward with their lives was unmatched. I miss seeing his smiling face and sitting in his office just to chat for a few minutes. I miss you Stephen, thank you so much for letting me be a part of your journey on this earth. See you on the other side my friend. Rick Schaap, March 29, 2021 The Vaughns and Issas sat next to each other many times on a soccer field in McKinney and later on bleachers at a baseball game. Kate Parker, March 24, 2021 To Roni, Bakari and Kelley, Stephen's gentle spirit has inspired me during these past 17 years that we worked together at Serenity. Stephen's devotion to his family was unequaled and has left a lasting legacy. I will miss Stephen's positive attitude, approach to seeking solutions when there was a concern to be managed and upbeat approach to life until the time of his passing. Prayers of comfort and compassion offered to Stephen's extended family too. JULI Juli Ferraro, March 24, 2021
