Stephen "Steve" Soule

Stephen Thayer Soule, age 70, passed away December 8, 2024, in Anna, Texas.  He was born on February 4, 1954, in Houston, Texas to his parents Kenneth Dana Soule and Nancy (Longmore) Soule.

Steve graduated high school from the American School in Switzerland.  He earned a bachelor’s degree from Austin College in Sherman, Texas. Over the years he worked in the Oil & Gas Industry as a Petroleum Landman.

Steve met his wife of 47 years, Martha Jo Griffin, at Austin College.  They were married on May 21, 1977, at SMU’s Cox Chapel in Dallas.  Steve was a devoted father who was extremely proud of his children, Kenneth and JoLinnell. He was a gifted athlete who thrived at various sports such as snow skiing, golf, football and soccer. He was a member of the inaugural soccer team at Austin College.  He had the opportunity to live overseas for several years throughout high school. He appreciated his extensive travels throughout his life and explored Europe, Scandinavia, Africa and Russia.  He had a passion for golf and enjoyed playing regularly as a member of Hurricane Creek Country Club.  He felt blessed to be able to retire in the peaceful rural setting of his home in Anna.

Steve is survived by his wife, Martha Jo Soule, of Anna, Texas; son, Kenneth Soule and wife Katie, of Gunter, Texas and their two children Thayer Gray and Norah Kate; daughter, JoLinnell Montee and her husband Aaron, of Midland, Texas and their children Abigail Jo and Adin Aaron; sister, Chris Spradling and her husband Jay, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; mother-in-law, Saundra Jo Griffin, of Anna, Texas; sisters-in-law, Karen Spies, and Debbie Henegan, both of Plano, Texas; and his nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Ken and Nancy Soule; brother, Dana Soule; and father-in-law, Ken Griffin.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, December 20, 2024, at the First Christian Church in Anna - 201 S Sherley Road, Anna, Texas 75409 .

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations could be made to Habitat for Humanity of Collin County and/or Meals on Wheels of Collin County.
