IN LOVING MEMORY

Stan Putter

Jan 26 1948 - Jun 23 2017

Stan Putter passed away on June 23, 2017 in Little Elm, Texas. He was born on January 26, 1948 in Johannesburg, South Africa. He is preceded in death by his father Johannes Putter and mother Elizabeth William Putter.

Stan is survived by his sister, Bernice Scott and her husband and life-long friend Marshall Smith of Little Elm, Texas; Tim Smith who he mentored and advised as a father figure, half brother, Billy Bartlett and his wife Cathy of Ventersdeop North West. South Africa nieces, Charice Rocha and Husband Robby of Randburg, South Africa and Rhonda Ives of Randburg, South Africa; great nephews, Orin Rocha, Noah Ives, and Daniel Ives; and great niece, Shelby Rocha. He is also survived by infinity of friends as he never met a stranger.

The world was his stage and he was well traveled with countless adventures in North America, Europe and Southern Africa. If you ever heard the phrase “been there, done that” he was probably the first to utter those words. Stan was never at a loss for words to share his experiences and instill in others his zest for life.

Exotic places brought him an appreciation for other food and cultures and cooking became his favorite hobby, never too squeamish to try anything savory. His friends and loved ones were fortunate enough to be his guinea pigs and food reviews were either the utterance of these words “repeat” or “not a repeat”. During visits to South Africa Stan would spend many hours in the kitchen to delight friends and family with tasty meals he perfected.

Stan was appalled by the needless suffering, exploitation, and extermination of animals around the world especially the highly endangered elephants and rhinos in Africa. He also worked to help out with the overpopulation of companion animals by adopting and subsequently spoiling rescued dogs. In lieu of flowers he would welcome donations in his name to any humane organization.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 28, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow in Frisco. A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 29, 2017 at 7:00 PM at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow in Frisco and a reception at the home afterward.
