IN LOVING MEMORY

Sidney Campbell Brown

Nov 04 1938 - Jan 10 2022

Sidney Campbell Brown, 83, of McKinney, Texas, passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022. Sid was born on November 4, 1938, to Walter Rinaman Brown and Helen Marie Campbell in St. Louis, Missouri.

Sid grew up in Brentwood and then attended The University of Missouri and was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He graduated in 1960 with a degree in history.  During his 37 year career in advertising, he worked for D’Arcy Advertising, Tracy Locke, and Blair Television. He was a member of ABET, The Collin County Planning Board, and First United Methodist Church of McKinney.

Sid and his wife, Valerie “Dee Dee” Williams, met on a blind date, married three months later, and enjoyed family, travel, and wonderful friends for over 56 years.

He was an avid reader, lifelong student of history, and expert BBQ chef.  He enjoyed many summers on Lake Texoma on his boat, The Godsend. Memories of that time always included colorful stories of friendship and fun. In 2004, he discovered his beloved second home in Nocona, Texas. He never tired of sitting on the porch and looking out at the beautiful views. Whether rocking on the porch or sharing a family meal, he would always exclaim, “Isn’t this just the best?”

He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Walter Brown, and sister, Kell Brown. He is survived by his wife, Dee Dee, of McKinney, Texas; daughter Allison Lee and husband, Tommy, of Dallas Texas; son Andrew Brown and wife, Suzanne, of Evergreen Colorado; grandchildren, Valerie Lee, Danny Lee, Annabel Lee, Alexa Brown, and Evan Brown; and a host of other loving family and friends.

We would like to give a heart-felt thank you to Teresa’s House for their loving and compassionate care.

Donations in Sid’s honor may be made to Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Rd, P.O. Box 567, Kanab, Utah 84741-0567 or Patriot Paws, 254 Ranch Trail, Rockwall, Texas 75032.

A celebration of Sid’s life will be held at a later date.
