Sidney Laverne Lamb went home to be with the Lord on November 8, 2022 in Plano, Texas at the age of 85. He was born to Drew Anderson and Edna Pauline (Clem) Lamb on February 19, 1937 in Okolona, Arkansas.
Sidney grew up in Delight, Arkansas and graduated in 1955. Immediately following graduation “Bud” joined the Army and was stationed in Hawaii. After his honorable service, Bud came to Dallas with his brother John who was also his best friend. He drove a city bus in Dallas for a few years. It was his time as a bus driver where he met his wife Linda, and they spent the next 64 years together building a wonderful life for their family. Sidney and Linda’s family grew to include 4 children Rodney, Sherry, Darla and Carla.
Sidney spent over 30 years in the Redi-Mix business before retiring to enjoy time with his family and his hobby of restoring antique fans. Sidney’s reputation for restoring fans earned him the nickname of “The Fan Man”. People from across the country sent Sidney their fans for repair and restoration and many traveled to his workshop, aka his garage, to learn the craft alongside him. He was inducted into the AFCA Fanman Hall of Fame in July, 2004.
Sidney’s most significant accomplishment however is the lasting impact that he had on the lives of others, most importantly his family. He was a loving husband, father and Pepaw providing constant support, encouragement and a reminder to always “do the right thing”. Sidney lived his life in a way that honored his faith and provided an example for others to follow. He was known for his kindness, grace, compassion, generosity and humility. He was described by those who knew him as “one of the best men I’ve ever had the pleasure to know”.
Sidney is survived by his wife, Linda Lamb of McKinney, Texas; son, Rodney Hargraves of Crandall, Texas; daughter, Sherry Waters and husband, Joe of Coppell, Texas; daughter, Darla Vaccaro and husband, Frank of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Carla Polinchak and husband, Ray of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Stephanie, Chea, Clint, Matthew, Austin, Chelsey, Caitlin, Dylan, Cameron, and Jenna; great grandchildren; Caroline, Alphie, Lilly, Hunter, Oscar, William, Benjamin, and Nicholas; sister, Paula Valles of Grand Prairie; and numerous other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Drew and Edna Lamb, and his brothers, Marvin, Don, John, Larry, and Richard Lamb.
