Mrs. Sibyl F. Dungan, a lifelong resident of McKinney and Allen, went home to be with the Lord on April 23, 2004, at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Joe D. Dungan, Sr. Mrs. Dungan was born in Donie, Texas to R. V. Ferguson and Pearle Williams Ferguson, and grew up in Wichita County near Iowa Park, Texas. After graduating as the valedictorian of her class at the Valley View School in Iowa Park, she attended and graduated from the University of North Texas in Denton. Mrs. Dungan taught the first grade for 25 years, serving in the Chambersville, Frisco, McKinney and Allen school districts. She retired from the Allen Independent School District. Mrs. Dungan met Joe D. Dungan on March 3, 1940 while attending college in Denton and they were married the following July 25, 1940. She and Joe were Past Matron and Past Patron of McKinney Chapter 518 Order of the Eastern Star and Allen Chapter 1117 Order of the Eastern Star, which later became a part of the Frisco chapter. Mrs. Dungan was a member of the First Baptist Church of McKinney. Her husband, Joe D. Dungan, Sr., her parents and two brothers, preceded Mrs. Dungan in death. She is survived by two sons, Joe D. Dungan, II and wife Kay of Allen and Richard Dungan and wife Sharon of McKinney, daughter-in-law Jan Dungan of Allen, granddaughter Jeri Stephenson and husband Reece of Colorado Springs, Colorado, grandson Jeff Dungan and wife Kristin of College Station, grandson Rich Dungan of Oak Harbor, Washington, grandson Chris Dungan of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and sister Delphine Ferguson of Wichita Falls, Texas. Mrs. Dungan also had four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 24, 2004, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel. Interment will be at Ridgeview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M., Friday, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
