IN LOVING MEMORY

Shirley Newark

Jul 26 1940 - Mar 08 2022

Shirley Newark of Plano, Texas went to be with our Lord on March 8, 2022, at the age of 81. She was surrounded by her loving family at home. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 50 years, William “Bill” Newark, Sr. Shirley was born in Salamanca, New York, to Francis DeBoy and Loretta Valeski on July 26, 1940. She received her nursing degree from the SUNY at Alfred with Highest Honors. For many years, she taught medical terminology at Olean Business Institute and worked in the Intensive Care Unit at St. Francis Hospital in Olean, New York. In 1985 she and her husband moved to Texas to be close to their son and daughter. There she continued her calling in medical service at Mesquite Medical Center where she served as a dedicated and caring nurse until her retirement. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Shirley.  She enjoyed emailing with family and friends, walking in the neighborhood, and caring for her home and garden. She loved movie nights with friends with a glass of watered-down wine in hand. Her greatest joy was checking the Family Album for the latest photos of her great grandchildren Wilder and Harlow. Shirley was a devoted member of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church and participated weekly in the Prayer Shawl Ministry. She found great joy and comfort in her church community. Shirley is reunited with her loved ones and finally with Bill after 14 years as promised in their wedding vows. She has graced all who knew her with unconditional love and support. We are blessed to have had her in our lives.

She is survived by her son William Newark, Jr.; her daughter and son-in-law Loretta and Douglas Stafford; grandchildren Kevin Eaton and wife Bene, Amber Wagner, and William Newark III as well as her five great grandchildren; her brother and sister-in-law Leonard and Linda DeBoy and numerous other loving family and friends.

A graveside service will be held at St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Olean, New York at a later date.
