Shirley Mitchell Corry of Waco, Texas passed away on August 8, 2022 at the age of 84. She was born on September 7, 1937 to Virgil and Jessie (Crenshaw) Mayfield in Wylie, Texas. She married Donald Glenn Mitchell on November 27, 1952 in Durant, Oklahoma. Don passed away in 1982. Shirley then married Charles Wayne Corry on October 12, 1989 in Princeton, Texas. She was a member of White Oak Baptist Church in Yantis, Texas. Shirley loved the Gaither Gospel Music. She ran Corry’s Guest House at Lake Fork for 26 years.
Shirley is survived by her son, Ron Mitchell and wife, JoAnn of Red Oak, Texas, Jerry Mitchell and wife, Diane of Dallas, Texas and Mark Mitchell and wife, Robin of Waco, Texas; stepdaughter, Courtney Corry Danna and husband, Frank of Annapolis, Maryland; grandchildren, Amy Weisse of Combine, Texas, Kyle Mitchell of Waxahachie, Texas, Cory Mitchell of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Colton Mitchell of Lewisville, Texas, Lisa Mitchell of Dallas, Texas, Katie Russell of Waco, Texas, Drew Mitchell of Waco, Texas and Francesca Danna; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Cliff Mayfield and wife, Shirley of Princeton, Texas; and numerous other loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by husband, Don Mitchell; second husband, Charles Corry in 2021; daughter, Lisa Ann Mitchell; brothers, Bobby Mayfield, Doodle Mayfield, and James Mayfield.
A funeral service service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 12, 2022 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. The service will be livestreamed at https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/shirley-mitchell-corry. After the service, the recorded livestream will be available at the same link location. The family will receive friends during a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Princeton Cemetery.
