Shirley June (Croan) Speaks, a resident of The Colony, Texas, passed away on January 10, 2026, at the age of 83. She was born on December 3, 1942, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to her loving parents, Melvin Croan and Maxine (Byrd) Croan.
On July 11, 1992, Shirley married Timothy Dean Speaks in Dallas, Texas. Their marriage was filled with love, laughter, and deep companionship. Tim was her steady partner and greatest supporter, and together they built a life rooted in devotion, humor, and quiet joy. A strong and driven woman, Shirley owned and operated her own business in the construction industry, never afraid to lead and always the “boss” in the very best way.
Shirley was kind, funny, generous, elegant, and wonderfully stubborn. She had a gift for telling a good joke and could light up a room with her quick wit and warm laugh. She loved her family deeply, found joy in gardening and holidays, and cherished simple evenings at home watching good TV shows with Tim by her side. She never left the house without her make-up on, believing in presenting herself with confidence and grace. Shirley will be remembered for her strength, her humor, and the special way she made everyone around her feel seen and loved.
Shirley is survived by her beloved husband, Timothy Dean Speaks of The Colony, Texas; granddaughter, Ashley Busby of Prosper, Texas; daughters, Carolee Thompson of Seattle, Washington, Jenee Speaks of The Colony, Texas and Stephanee Talley of Lewisville, Texas; grandchildren, Janey Bojarski, and Timothy Nico Liu, both of Seattle, Washington, Gracee Talley of The Colony, Texas, and Lauren Varley of Fort Worth, Texas; great grandchildren, Payton Morris, and Brooks Busby, both of Prosper, Texas; brother, Mike Moeller of Santa Fe, Texas; sister-in-law, Sherry Moeller of Dickinson, Texas; nieces, ReaJean Creekmore of Dickinson, Texas, Kristi Redford of Knoxville Tennessee, Sammy Moeller, and Jennifer Moeller, both of Santa Fe, Texas; and a host of extended family members and friends, who will miss her and cherish her memory.
Shirley was preceded in death by her mother, Maxine Moeller, step-father, Amel Moeller, brothers, Amel (Dutch) Moeller and Bill Moeller, and daughter, Susan Thompson.
A memorial graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 30, 2026, at Ridgeview West Memorial Park, 7800 Sanctuary Drive, Frisco, Texas 75033.
