Shirley Jayne Ragan, a long time resident of Bonham, Texas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Christmas Eve, 2023, at the age of 81. She was the youngest of three children, born to Louis and Cora Stephens.
After graduating from McKinney High School, Shirley married the love of her life, Rayphord Glen Ragan, Sr. on June 10, 1960. She then went on to earn her Associate Degree from Grayson County Community College. She dedicated herself to caring for the youngest of patients as a Pediatric Nurse at Wysong Hospital in McKinney. She also worked in the field of Home Healthcare, ensuring that her patients received the utmost care and attention.
In addition, Shirley became a Real Estate Agent, all the while pursuing her passion for antiques. She and Rayphord owned and operated three antique shops together in Bonham for many years. Shirley’s eye for detail and appreciation for history helped her acquire her own interesting collection.
Shirley's faith was an integral part of her life. As a youth group leader at King Memorial Baptist Church in McKinney, she made puppets and created a puppet ministry, guiding and mentoring the youth to strengthen their spiritual journeys. She later became an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Bonham.
Shirley Jayne Ragan will be remembered as a strong woman with a zest for life who touched the lives of many through her dedication, compassion, and love. Her generous heart and unwavering faith will live on in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Debra and Leslee, son Rayphord Glen, Jr., and many grandchildren.
Shirley was predeceased by her beloved husband, Rayphord Glen Ragan, Sr., her brother Louis and sister Alice.
She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas.
