Shirley Anne Gibson

Shirley Anne Gibson of Prosper, Texas passed away May 19, 2023 at the age of 87. She was born to Joseph Walter and Catherine Obera (Gentle) Scott on November 21, 1935 in McKinney, Texas. Shirley graduated Salutatorian from Prosper High School in 1954. While in high school, she enjoyed basketball, cheer leading, and drill team. She attended Texas Tech University and Texas Women’s University. She married Franklin Delano Gibson on June 3, 1958. Shirley worked in downtown Dallas as a legal secretary for Coke & Coke Law Firm.

Shirley's favorite pastime was being with friends and family. She loved going to the movie theatre with her grandchildren and/or friends. She was in various clubs; book clubs, playing cards and dominos, as well as traveling with her National Bowling League. During the NBA basketball season you could always find her cheering on the Dallas Mavericks. She enjoyed spending time with the ladies of the church and meeting up for salad parties. It was time she cherished.

Shirley is survived by her children, Danny Gibson and wife, Cathy of Prosper, Texas, Diane Agan and husband, Richard of Melissa, Texas, and Susan Pierce and husband, Dan of Celina, Texas; grandchildren, Ashley Agan and husband, Marcelo Preissler, Alix Agan and wife, Katy, Ty Agan, D’Ann Holt and husband, Tim, Sarah Gibson, Brandon Pierce, Jackson Pierce; great grandchildren, Everly Holt and Penelope Preissler; and a host of other loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother, Ralph Scott.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home at 2525 Central Expressway North in Allen, Texas 75013. The service will be livestreamed at https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/shirley-anne-gibson. After the service, the recorded livestream will be available at the same link location. Interment will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Prosper, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
