IN LOVING MEMORY

Shirley A. Woodard

Jul 31 1940 - Dec 18 2020

Shirley A. Woodard of McKinney, Texas passed away December 18, 2020 at the age of 80.  She fought a long, tough, courageous battle with cancer and not once did she ever entertain the thought of a “pity party”.  Shirley was born on July 31, 1940 to Melvin Franklin Woodard and Opal (Welch) Woodard in Melissa, Texas. She grew up in Melissa and was a graduate of Anna High School in Anna, Texas.  She worked for thirty plus years at the original Steffey’s Jiffy Dog Drive-In Restaurant in McKinney and later, at Woods Motel and Restaurant, also in McKinney.  After retirement, Shirley enjoyed many hours of reading, watching movies and working word-find puzzles.

Along with the love for her family, Shirley also had a special place in her heart for animals, especially for her cat, Felix, who lived for over 19 years.

She is survived by her sister, Mary E. Woodard of McKinney, Texas; niece, Joy Lynn DeShazo and husband, William of Sherman, Texas; family friend, Patsy Snider of Allen, Texas; and numerous other loving family and friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by parents, Melvin and Opal Woodard; sister, Willie Mae Hays; and brother, Melvin Woodard, Jr.

A graveside service for the family will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at the Garden Pavilion at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
