Shirley Ann Demick Teegarden, age 85, was called to our Heavenly Father on December 27, 2020. She was born on September 4, 1935 to Alice and Bernard Demick in Anna, Illinois. Shirley moved to Hamilton, Missouri for her senior year of high school where she met her loving husband, Jim Teegarden. Jim and Shirley were married on June 4, 1956 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hamilton and enjoyed 64 wonderful years together.
After living in Missouri and Iowa the Teegarden’s moved to McKinney, Texas, Jim and Shirley retired to Sun City in Georgetown, Texas. They became members of St. Helen Catholic Church and discovered a passion for square dancing. For nearly 20 years they danced with the Shirts & Skirts and Sundancers clubs. They also traveled to dance at nearby clubs as well as weeklong dance events across the United States.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Jim Teegarden; daughters, Cindy Abernathy and husband, Matt, and Alicia Boyd and Randy Miller; grandchildren, Monica Martinez, Mark Abernathy and wife, Laura and Amelia Abernathy; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Martinez, Madelyn Martinez, Thomas Abernathy, and Margaret Abernathy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alice and Bernard Demick; and sisters, Mary Demick and Bernadine Reid.
Shirley was a devout Catholic – she loved her faith, family, and friends. While sad at the loss of her presence, the family hopes you will join them in celebrating Shirley’s life and wonderful memories.
