Shirley Arlene Caldwell, of McKinney, Texas, wonderful wife and mother, passed away on March 8, 2025, at the age of 79. She was born on March 1, 1946, to Martin and Mary Banke in McMinnville, Oregon. Shirley married Kenneth Caldwell in McMinnville, Oregon in 1964. Shirley was the heart of our home and family. As a full-time homemaker, she proudly raised two children, Michael and Julie, in a happy and loving home. She enjoyed interior design and decorating, earning an interior design certificate from the Savannah College of Art and Design. She also obtained a real estate license in the state of Washington and served her church in Charleston as a secretary for many years. She loved flowers and enjoyed spending time outside tending her beautiful gardens.
During their 56 years of marriage, they were blessed to live in numerous locations throughout the U.S. and overseas, most notably Charleston, South Carolina. They moved to Texas in 2005, where they were active members of Our Savior Lutheran Church.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Julie Caldwell of McKinney, Texas; son, Michael Caldwell and wife, Tracy of Jensen Beach, Florida; sister, Dorothy Tapp of McMinnville, Oregon; brother, Donald Banke of North Plains, Oregon; and brother, James Banke of Salem, Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, her parents, Martin and Mary, and brothers, Victor, Marvin, Martin, and Edward.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 20, 2025 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in McKinney, Texas. A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service. Shirley will be interred next to her beloved husband at 2:00 p.m. in the Field of Honor located at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas.
The family will receive guests for a visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
The 11:00 a.m. service will be livestreamed from the Our Savior Lutheran Church website ( Our Savior Lutheran Church) for those unable to attend.
The family requests that Memorial Donations be sent to Hope Women’s Center (myhope.org) in lieu of flowers.
