Sherry Lu Saye Jones

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Sherry Lu Saye Jones, 77 year old Wharton resident, is scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Wednesday December 5, 2018 at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel in Leonard, Texas.  Luke Guthrie will officiate.  Burial will be in the Hogey/Celeste Cemetery.  Family visitation will be Tuesday December 4, 2018 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel in Leonard.

Sherry was born January 22, 1941 at Merit, Texas.  Her parents were Wesley Aubrey “Dick” and Lee Ellen Sumrow Saye.  She graduated from Celeste High School in 1959 was a member of the Abell Street Church of Christ in Wharton, Texas.  She married Paul Dan Jones July 4, 1959 in Celeste and she was a homemaker and helper to her husband in the ministry. Together Sherry and Paul worked with churches in Kingston, Greenville, Mission, Post, and Wharton, Texas  as well as Baker City Oregon.   She passed away Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Town Hall Estates Nursing Home in Keene, Texas.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Russell and Mary Jones of Cleburne; grandchildren:  Taylor and Dallas Smith of LaGrange; great grandchild:  Edward Smith of LaGrange; grandchildren:  Caitlyn and Hayden Jones of Cleburne; her daughter and son-in-law:  Sonja and Kenneth Dixon of Wolfforth; grandchild:  Chad Dixon of Slaton and grandchildren:  Aaron and Madison Dixon, both of Wolfforth; her brothers and sisters-in-law:  Dick & Odile Saye of Leonard and Teddy & Betty Saye of Midlothian; her sister:  Carol Tanner of Wolfe City, Texas.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Dan Jones, and two sons, Wesley Jones and Gregory Jones.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the church or charity of your choice.
