IN LOVING MEMORY

Shelby Marie Herrera

Jan 07 1976 - Dec 29 2023

Shelby Marie Herrera (Brashear) , 47 years old, of Aubrey, TX, passed away on December 29, 2023 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Shelby was born on January 7, 1976 to Rosemary (Heffern) and Timothy Brashear in Uniontown, PA.

After Shelby graduated from Laurel Highlands High School in 1994, she moved to the DFW area and began her career in the finance & mortgage field. While in DFW, Shelby worked in finance, mortgage/ underwriting field for 30 years, almost 15 years of which was spent at Bank of America as a Mortgage Modification Underwriter. In 1997, Shelby met the love of her life, Braulio (Junior) Herrera while they worked at AutoNation. Together, Shelby and Junior carried out their passions, living on multiple ranches, at one point caring for and owning 27 horses! They also happily rescued and raised several fur baby dogs. And actively participated in Camaro club events. Shelby and Junior made the decision to welcome her victory ride, a 2019 extreme yellow Chevy Camaro 2SS, she proudly named “Shockin”, into their family when her cancer originally went into remission in 2019. Shockin was her pride, joy and comfort for the long 29 months of her 2nd cancer battle.

One of Shelby’s most joyous passions was her work in the creation & launching of the DFW Chapter of the All-American Camaro Firebird Association, to which she served as President. Shelby touched many lives, from her passionate participation in all she did. Including 4H in Uniontown, barrel racing in her teen years and early 20s, the rescue of and care for dogs and horses, Camaro club creation and membership, racing Shockin at Texas Motor Speedway & many cruises in Shockin - most notably Tail of the Dragon in both 2021 & 2022, as well as her openly sharing all that she endured in her cancer journey.

Shelby is survived by her loving husband, Braulio (Junior) Herrera; mother, Rosemary (Heffern) & Jaime Benavides; sister, Angela (Thompson) & Bryan Davis; father. Timothy W. Brashear: brothers, Cory & Allie Brashear and Michael Brashear, and many beloved nieces and nephews Aniston, Breck, Luca, Embry, Tristan, Charlie & Claire, as well as many dear friends.

Shelby was predeceased by adored grandparents, Margaret & Robert Brashear and Sophia and Frank Heffern.

One thing is for sure- to know Shelby was to love her.

Her family invites all she touched in any way to come join us in her Celebration of Life to be held at Hard Eight in the Colony, on January 7, 2024 at 4pm CT.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The American Cancer Society, an organization Shelby felt strongly about.
