Shayne Christopher Wilcox, 47, of Prosper, Texas, passed away on March 19, 2023. Shayne was born in Toronto, Canada, on November 27, 1975, to Margaret Lorraine & John Nicholas Wilcox. Shayne grew up on his Grandparents farm outside of Stouffville, inspiring a lifelong love for animals. From a young age Shayne developed a passion for sports and a love for hockey. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of New Brunswick where he played on the university team. Shayne attended veterinary school in Canada at Prince Edward Island University, graduating in 2002 with his doctorate degree. Following graduation Shayne spent a few years practicing in Ontario, Canada developing his interest in large animals and equine medicine while working on various breeds of performance horses. Shayne spent his career improving the performance of elite Grand Prix and Olympic caliber horses traveling from coast to coast while working alongside the best trainers in the industry.
Shayne married the love of his life, Amanda Allman, in Santa Ynez, California, on November 18, 2011, and they were blessed with two sons and a daughter. As they built a family and life together in Texas, Shayne transitioned to small animal medicine so he could spend more time at home with his family, golfing, and attending sporting events which were his ultimate loves. Shayne beamed with pride and joy anytime he had the opportunity to tell a story about his wife and children. They were his everything.
Shayne was an amazing man with a charismatic personality, and showed such compassion for his family, friends, clients, staff and patients. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Shayne is survived by his beloved wife, Amanda Wilcox; his children, Jaxson (6), Chloe (4), and Jett (1.5); his mother, Margaret Kirton and her husband, Donald; his brothers, Stephen Wilcox and his wife, Lisa, & Everett Wilcox and his wife, Bobbie; his niece, Devyn Wilcox; and his nephew, Grayson Wilcox.
He is preceded in death by his father, John Wilcox.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Grace Avenue United Methodist Church, 3521 Main St., Frisco, Texas, 75034.
