IN LOVING MEMORY

Sharon Elaine Turner

May 10 1945 - Oct 18 2022

Sharon Elaine Capps Turner of Richardson, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 18, 2022 after a courageous battle with leukemia.

Sharon was born in Dallas, Texas on May 10, 1945 to Robert “R.T.” and Kathryn Capps. She graduated South Oak Cliff High School and then married her high school sweetheart, James “Jim” Richard Turner on January 30, 1965 at Southern Crest Baptist Church in Dallas. They moved to New Orleans for a short time where Jim worked for Texas Instruments and then moved back to Texas and bought a home in Richardson.  It was there that their two sons were born - Christopher Scott Turner and James Brandon Turner. Sharon worked for PepsiCo for over 20 years with managerial roles at the Quaker Oats, Tropicana & Gatorade division. After retiring, she stayed active with neighborhood friends, family, and through her church, Prestonwood Baptist. She loved attending the annual Christmas program at Prestonwood and made a tradition of taking along her grandchildren.

Sharon was an avid gardener and loved tending to her yard and cultivating plants indoors and out. She was always happy to share tips and even cuttings of her own plants for others to grow. Besides gardening, she loved the Dallas Cowboys and most Sunday nights could be found cheering them on from her favorite chair.

Her greatest joy was being Gigi to five grandchildren - Tristan, Hayden, Josh, Mattie, and Elizabeth. She was very active in their lives and delighted in watching them grow and spoiling them in the way that only grandmothers can.

Sharon is survived by son, Chris Turner and his wife Mandy; son, Brandon Turner and his wife Erin; grandchildren, Tristan Peterson, James Hayden Turner, Joshua Scott Turner, Mattie Kathryn Turner, and Elizabeth Anne Turner; mother, Kathryn Capps; brother, Kenneth Capps and his wife, Pam; brother, Robert “Bob” Capps and his wife Diane; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; father, Robert Thomas Capps; and sister, Deborah McCoy.

The Turner family would like to thank the many Canyon Creek neighborhood friends that provided meals, support, encouragement, and prayers during Sharon’s battle with cancer. They would also like to thank her doctors, nurses – especially those at the apheresis center, and staff at the UT Southwestern Medical Center along with the Faith Presbyterian Hospice Facility for the incredible care they provided.

The family invites you to a Visitation at Berkshire Chapel, 9073 Berkshire Drive, Frisco, Texas, on Monday, October 24, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.  Funeral Service is being held at Prestonwood Baptist Church, 6801 W. Park Blvd., Plano, Texas, on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Pastor Charles Hebert.
